100% employment for Matjiesfontein

Matjiesfontein is a historical tourist attraction located in the Karoo, about 245km from the metropolis of Cape Town. Matjiesfontein, with a population that totals 376 people, is one of the few towns in South Africa that can now boast a 100% employment rate.
This project forms part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), funded by the National Department of Environmental Affairs. Anix Consulting, as implementers of the project, will facilitate the employment of 80 previously un- and under-employed persons in this community through this dynamic job creation project.
The project seeks to encourage the community’s movement towards self-sustainability thorugh training the community to erect a nursery and establish a 1-hectare herb garden. This initiative will accomodate 56% females and 60% local youth.
This exciting project commenced 1 February 2012 with Anix Consulting CEO, Mr. Rhiyaan Cupido sharing the stage with the Mayor Mr. Wilhelm Theron and local Community Development Worker, Mr. Oersen Herder who commended Anix for facilitating engagements to get the project underway in Matjiesfontein.  Mr Cupido concluded proceeds by addressing the team and encouraged them to make the project the best in the land and reminded the community that  “the ball is in (their) court to make it happen”.
The project teams are kitted with their new safety gear and uniforms and can be found proudly working in the immediate Matjiesfontein area.
